An english flagship scudding in a gale this is possibly a copy as there is a better version in the collection (paf6666), although robinson does not say whether this may be by van de velde or another member of the studio. It depicts a starboard view of a three-decker with a union flag at the mainmast pitching in a heavy sea. There are two other ships in the background. The drawing is unsigned.
