Various characters, dressed in tunics or semi-naked, dance, drink, eat grapes, play instruments and have fun in a garden environment around a bust of the god bacchus. In the background you can see several classic and popular buildings. In this work you can see all the influences that houasse's painting receives. The academic tendency of the figures is mixed with memories of poussin, titian and watteau. Likewise, some facial types, as well as the everyday appearance of the scene, are reminiscent of dutch painting. It also proves the care taken in the painter's compositions, with a perfect study of the different groups or figures and their union with the whole. The painter manages to perfectly capture the delights of the mythological environment. This type of themes was very fashionable among collectors of the 18th century, houasse being one of the best representatives of the genre, with works as attractive as this one.
