Portrait of a Woman, Paris Bordone, between 1545 and 1550

Portrait of a Woman, Paris Bordone, between 1545 and 1550

"in 1704-1713 the painting is remembered in the "alcove room" in palazzo pitti. Subsequently, in the general eighteenth-century reorganization of the palace's picture gallery, the canvas was transported to the fifth hall on the square. Nineteenth-century criticism identified the woman portrayed as a wet nurse from the medici family; however, the elegance of the clothing, the sustained attitude of the figure reveal an affirmed social position. The analysis of the clothing (davanzo poli) has made it possible to date the work of the sixth decade of the 16th century" [1]. Object Type: painting. Genre: portrait. Date: between 1545 and 1550. Dimensions: height: 105.5 cm (41.5 in) ; width: 83.3 cm (32.7 in). Medium: oil on canvas. Collection: Galleria Palatina. Paris Bordone 014
