The Martyrdom of Saint Florian, Albrecht Altdorfer, from 1516 until 1518

Pölten to lauriacum, today's district of lorch in the city of enns, to help his fellow believers who were being persecuted and tortured under the dual rule of emperor diocletian and maximian. He was drowned in the enns with a millstone around his neck. He died on may 4, 304 and was buried at the place where the st. Florian monastery was later founded.
