A stout elderly man (three-quarter length) sits astride across a chair, his arms folded on its back; he wears a hat and holds a cane; his head is turned in profile to the left, and is seen through the wide-open sash of a window in boodle's, st. James's street. On the wall behind (left) is a portrait of a horse: 'yellow filly'. Beneath the imprint: '* vide: a d. 'd good cocoa-tree pun. ' 28 may 1800 hand-coloured etching. Date: 1800.
