A small ship at anchor
robinson considers that this drawing is ‘probably’ by van de velde the younger. However, it may have been drawn over by a later hand which ‘throws some doubt on the whole drawing’. The vessel is a small one without a head at anchor. She is viewed from close on the starboard bow. The fore and main courses are loosed in the brails. The drawing is unsigned. A small ship at anchor. Date: circa 1700. Dimensions: Sheet: 243 x 175 mm; Mount: 556 mm x 405 mm. Collection: Fine art.
