A group of six fishing people RMG PV5186, circa 1655

A group of six fishing people this figure study shows a man on the left leaning on a stick, pointing and talking to two women, one of whom has a large flat basket on her head. Close behind them on the right stand a man, a woman and a girl. The unsigned drawing’s stylistic resemblance to drawings of similar subjects from the milford collection, now at the nmm, suggest a tentative attribution to willem van de velde, the elder, and a date of about 1655. A group of six fishing people. Date: circa 1655. Dimensions: Secondary support: 191 mm x 237 mm; Primary support: 123 mm x 171 mm; Mount: 317 mm x 482 mm. Collection: Fine art.
