A group of seven people
on the right, three gentlemen in cloaks and wide-brimmed hats are talking to each other. On the left, a woman is seated on a basket; a man is standing by her. In the background two men are engaged in conversation. The unsigned drawing has been attributed to willem van de velde, the elder, as indicated by an old inscription on the back: 'wm vandevelt'. Its stylistic resemblance to drawings of similar subjects from the milford collection, now at the nmm, suggest a tentative date of about 1655. A group of seven people. Date: circa 1655.
