inscribed by the arist, as title. This is a study of an albatros d. Iii single seat fighter of the imperial german air force. The type entered squadron service on the western front in december 1916 and a small number were still operational on this front into september 1918. Wyllie represents the aircraft from astern and to its left, without a pilot in the cockpit.
