Grand prince vladimir monomakh. 1112-1125. Called to reign by universal love after the death of svyatopolk, famous for his victories and good morals, vladimir monomakh established peace in rus'. In his sermon to children, this sufferer (worker) for the russian land expressed the high feelings and wisdom of a ruler. The byzantine emperor alexius comnenus sent monomakh a precious crown and barmas (shoulder straps), with which russian tsars are adorned on the day of their coronation. Date: 1896.
