The city of rome was in the 17th century a popular place for travellers, artists and scientists. For all those who lacked the money to visit rome, nicolaes visscher ii (1649-1702) provided a series of prints with the most important architectural and archeological highlights of the city engraved by willem_swidde (c. 1660-1697).
