The print shows the complex of pleasure gardens of enghien near brussels. The plan is part of a series of prints commissioned by nicolaes visscher ii (1649-1702) and engraved by romeyn de hooghe (1645-1708). In the parc was also a greek mountain of parnassus which could often be seen in pleasure gardens. In antiquity, the parnassus, dedicated to apollo and the muses, was the traditional home of poetry and music. Object Type: print. Date: circa 1685. Place of creation: Netherlands.
