Solomon receives the Queen of Sheba, Lucas de Heere, 1559

The text on the frame reads: "colle siona soli veniens nicaulo sabæi, spem super et famam grandia miror ait," (above) and "alter item salomon, pia regum gemma philippus, ut foris hic sophiæ mira theatra dedit" (below). The translation of this text, taken from ii chron 9:5, says: "coming from the hill nicaulus, in the land of sheba, to zion [jerusalem], she [the queen of sheba] said: "i have seen things much greater than what i expected and what i had been told.
