portrait of the young marcel bing (1875-1920), goldsmith and jeweler. He assisted his father siegfried bing in the management of his art nouveau gallery before succeeding him in the asian art business in 1905. Besnard's relations with the bing family took shape in 1895 with the decoration of a rotunda salon located on the ground floor of the art nouveau gallery opened by siegfried bing at 22 rue de provence.
