The lithograph is known in four prints (in the pushkin house and in the russian museum), two of them are coloured with pencils. The print, presented to mikhail zeidler, has the inscription written by lermontov: „the view of the cross mountain from the ravine near kobi“. This inscription is usually used as the name of the lithograph, but it is not quite correct: lermontov depicted sioni village situated between stepantsminda and kobi (now in kazbegi municipality of georgia) and kabardjina mouintain in the background. The watchtower and the zion church drawn in the centre, on the rock, exist nowadays. Because of a mistake made when the picture was drawn on a lithograph limestone the image on the print is flopped.
