My beloved mother! i've just arrived here and my first greeting should be to you again. From what i can tell so far, the hospital is very nice; it's a foundation. I was shown to a room straight away and i was lucky. There are four of us here, all of us with fractures. We have a radio in the room and it's very nice. My first question about the food was very satisfactory. I've convinced myself of this and am completely satisfied. I heard that i'm supposed to have an operation on friday; just a few days' notice. But not much comes of it after me; it can't be that bad. Yesterday i was busy writing a [card. ]. Date: 12 June 1944.
