The children of adam friedrich oeser (1717-1799). As director of the leipzig art academy, oeser was not only a teacher of johann wolfgang von goethe (1749-1832), but also his fatherly advisor on general art history issues. Goethe got to know oeser's children in domestic life and struck up a friendship with 18-year-old friederike (1748-1829), which continued through correspondence for a number of years.
