Drawing for an unused subject, probably a discarded idea for pl 8 of "industry and idleness" (1747), "the industrious 'prentice married and furnishing his house"; in the foreground, goodchild and his wife, a servant standing behind an ornate table, in the background, men hanging pictures and unrolling carpet pen and brown ink and grey wash, over graphite, perspective lines ruled and pricked for transfer verso: preliminary sketch for pl 7, "the idle 'prentice returned from sea" graphite.
