Table clock. This gilded bronze case is richly decorated. Three-quarter front, schematically rectangular, the motifs that make up the faces are arranged according to two concave arches that give a lot of volume to this clock. The ornaments are the same on the front and the back. At the bottom a central mask allows two half-reclining winged putti to lean on their elbows. Naked, they have each simply girded a cloth. In their other hand they hold a long parchment that describes curves. On each side of the dial is a standing woman dressed in antique style and wearing a crown of flowers. From her outer shoulder comes the drape of the dress that makes up the outer edge of the clock. Her hand at the end of a slender arm supports a palm. On the other side her shoulder carries a garland that surrounds the dial and joins the other towards the sky in the center. Each outstretched hand indicates at the top a central mask identical to the one at the bottom. The quadrant is inhabited by six putti. The two hands indicate roman numerals engraved up to xii on enamelled plates. Date: circa 1838. Place of creation: Paris. Dimensions: height: 101 cm (39.7 in); width: 76 cm (29.9 in)deep 53 cm. Medium: bronze.
