Table clock. This gilded bronze case is richly decorated. The face, schematically rectangular, has symmetrical right and left motifs. At the bottom, a central mask allows two half-reclining winged putti to lean on. Naked, they have each simply girded with a cloth. In their other hand they hold a long parchment that describes curves. On each side of the dial is a standing woman dressed in antique style and wearing a crown of flowers. From her outer shoulder comes the drapery of the dress that forms the outer edge of the clock. Her hand supports a palm. On the other side, her shoulder carries a garland that surrounds the dial and joins the other towards the sky in the center. Each outstretched hand designates at the top a central mask identical to the one at the bottom. The quadrant is inhabited by six putti. The two hands designate roman numerals engraved up to xii on enameled plates. Date: circa 1838. Place of creation: Paris. Dimensions: height: 101 cm (39.7 in); width: 76 cm (29.9 in)deep 53 cm. Medium: bronze.
