Nuptial blessing of h. H. Prince napoleon and h. H. Princess clotilde, by mgr. Alexandre d'angenna, archbishop of vercelli, in the private chapel of the royal palace in turin, january 30, 1859. Marriage of h. H. Prince napoleon with h. R. H. Princess clotilde. Sunday in january, at ten o'clock in the morning, the celebration of the religious marriage of prince napoleon and madame clotilde took place in the private chapel of the royal palace in turin. -the entire royal family, the ministers and great dignitaries of the state, the presidents of the senate and the chamber attended this ceremony. ― the nuptial blessing was given by mgr d'angenna, archbishop of vercelli, assisted by the bishops of casal, pinerolo, savona and biella. The august couple was kneeling on cushions at the foot of the altar. Each of the spouses had at their side two of the bishops, in hackle and rochet, as religious witnesses. -outside the balustrade, on the right, behind the princess, stood the king, with all the royal family; on the left, m. De la tour-d'auvergne, minister of france, with general niel, the household of prince napoleon and the staff of the legation. The high dignitaries occupied the back of the chapel. The ladies of the court had taken their places in the gallery. The ceremony lasted an hour and was carried out in the greatest reverence. -the new spouses then had lunch as a family with the young princes and princesses. At half past one, the entire court left in a special convoy for genoa, where parties awaited them before embarking.
