Of the three versions of the portrait of suleiman, remembered by the sources as "by the hand of titian", only two have come down to us, iconographically different from each other, but both referable to titian's workshop, rather than to his hand. Which in any case would mean nothing, because many workshop works were dismissed as autographs. The first portrait of suleiman in the titian style comes from the collection of archduke ferdinand ii of austria and is recorded in the inventory of ruhelust castle in 1596. The painting was exhibited at the vienna exhibition in 2007 as a copy of titian (kunsthistorisches museum, gemäldegalerie, inv. -nr. 24291). Object Type: painting. Genre: portrait. Date: 1530s. Dimensions: height: 99 cm (38.9 in) ; width: 85 cm (33.4 in). Medium: oil on canvas. Depicted People: Suleiman the Magnificent. Collection: Kunsthistorisches Museum. EmperorSuleiman
