Portrait of Beate Albertine Sporon, née Koefoed., Jens Juel, 1783
Beate albertine koefoed (1755-1843) married benjamin georg sporon (1741-1796) in 1778. He was a theologist who came into royal service as teacher for the young crown prince frederik (vi). He was later in charge of the amt ("county") of koldinghus. The inscription on the verso indicates that she had her own career at the court. Jens juel portrayed them both, and the works were offered together at the auction. Juel portrayed them twice, and one set later went to the museum at frederiksborg (inventory a 4950 og a 4949). Ellen poulsen listed the set at frederiksborg as no. 280 and 281 in juel's production, but she also mentioned that a set of duplicates were made for the sporon family at the time.
