Rembrandt Temptation of Christ Sketch, Rembrandt, between 1635 and 1640

A sketch of the devil satan offering jesus christ stones to turn into loaves of bread following his 40 days of fasting in the wilderness, sketched by rembrandt van rijn. The setting of a cave possibly recalls the tradition of the grotto of the temptation halfway up jebel quruntul, the mount of the temptation. Date: between 1635 and 1640.
