40. Friedrich Stoltze's house of birth., Deutsch: um 1897

The formerly closed courtyard of the rebstock, between the market and schnurgasse, belonged to the noble family of the weiss von limburg in the 14th century. Before the family died out, it passed into the possession of a squire, justinian rauscher (1544). After him, it went to ulrich von rauscher, who married elisabeth von hell, known as pfeffer, in 1543 and thus became a member of the noble family of the house of limburg. The couple's coats of arms were affixed to the archway of kruggasse. Later, the courtyard became the property of various non-noble people. The three exits to the market, neugasse and kruggasse have not been closed for a long time. In this former courtyard is the birthplace of the popular folk poet friedrich stoltze, reproduced on sheet no. 40. The house was an inn in 1632 and was called "zum rebstock". Stoltze's father, born on march 21, 1783 in hörla in waldeck, was formerly head waiter in the "white swan" and had married anna maria rottmann, daughter of the wealthy innkeeper "zur goldenen spitz", whose house was at the back of the rebstock with an exit to the mausgässchen. The father, christian stoltze, who bought the house, ran the inn and a mineral water business there and also held the rank of captain in the fire battalion. The frankfurt liberals, including funck, sauerwein and freyeisen, frequented this area in the early 1830s. The rebstock was also their gathering place when the poles passed through, and stoltze's sister anna was called in for investigation or questioning after the frankfurt uprising in 1833, as is mentioned several times in stoltze's poems. Stoltze's father died on november 21, 1837, his mother on december 24, 1868. Friedrich stoltze was born on november 21, 1816 and died on march 28, 1891. On the poet's 70th birthday (1886), the house where he was born was decorated with a memorial plaque with the inscription: "the altfrankfurt district association erected this plaque on the poet's 70th birthday. ". Date: Deutsch: um 1897. Dimensions: reproduction: height: 21 cm (8.2 in); width: 16.3 cm (6.4 in), original: unknown. Medium: collotype print. Collection: Private collection Mylius.
