Værkstedsscene, Martinus Rørbye, 1836

Værkstedsscene, Martinus Rørbye, 1836

Presumably the motif is identical to a small painting 1837 for mr. Hatfield depicting a greek guitar workshop (see "other works"). The gesticulating figure on the chair is taken from the sketchbook's cafe scene (in kks: no. 10, p. 28). The girl outside, with jar and basket on her way to the workshop, is probably the guitar manufacturer's daughter, about whose hand the visiting greek arrests (helsted, mr, thor. Mus. 1981, pp. 141-142). Object Type: drawing. Date: 1836. Dimensions: height: 95 mm (3.74 in); width: 120 mm (4.72 in). Medium: pen and brown ink, pencil. Collection: Statens Museum for Kunst. Martinus Rørbye, Værkstedsscene, 1836, KKS1974-88, Statens Museum for Kunst
