saint-lazare prison, 107 rue du faubourg saint-denis, 10th arrondissement. Refectory. Large room with wooden tables and benches. On the right, a stove. Four women: one cleans the stove, one sweeps and two take care of the tables. Historical commentary:
in 1898 the destruction of many prisons was decided. Saint-lazare escaped this first wave, but the question of its destruction was raised again in 1912. The municipal commission of old commissioned photographs of these buildings before their disappearance. The judicial part of saint-lazare was only finally destroyed between 1935 and 1940.
