"ko-kiyomizu iro-e" style. Lacquered metal spout (repair), metal handle. The lid, in lacquered wood, is topped with a seated ceramic lion, of later manufacture. Marks, inscriptions, hallmarks: workshop stamp - stamp stamped under the foot: "mizoro" 御菩薩 (ideogram(s) - kanji) iconographic description: the polychrome decoration is made up of flowering branches of peony; the outlines of the petals traced in gold. Historical commentary: old title: "teapot" (inventory sheet without date). - originally intended for heating alcohol, this utensil was transformed into an ewer; the straight ceramic spout was replaced by a curved metal spout, covered with brown lacquer (mm).
