The three-winged retable shows the early christian martyr cecilia on the left inner wing, and the annunciation on the outer sides of the wings. Based on the time of the altar's creation and the coats of arms of zollern and bavaria attached to the pews, the donors can be identified as burgrave frederick vi - as elector of brandenburg frederick i - and his wife elisabeth of bavaria-landshut, whose main residences included cadolzburg. In 1426, frederick i retired here. The altar is one of the earliest examples of an art commission by the brandenburg electors. In 1850, the prussian lawyer and historian julius von minutoli made the work, which he rediscovered during his research on frederick i, public. After viewing it in 1873 and at his urgent request, crown prince frederick (iii) received it as a gift. Object Type: reredos, triptych, painting. Genre: religious art. Date: from 1425 until 1430.
