My beloved mother! now i'm back in blankenburg and am sending you my first greetings from there. The journey was quite something. Gretl took me to the train and her brother fritz came with me but then we went to the cinema. The 7:15 p. M. Train to berlin was cancelled so i couldn't travel until 9:08 p. M. The train didn't leave until 11:10 p. M. Gretl couldn't get on the platform but we stayed together until departure. So i traveled via linz and passau to nuremberg. I was supposed to go to regensburg but it had been bombed the day before. The journey from vienna to nuremberg was "heavenly" and only took 24 hours. I was lucky because i could sit. After a few hours, we continued on to leipzig from nuremberg. Date: 10 February 1945.
