Géricault - Nude Study. 1810-1811, Théodore Géricault, between 1810 and 1811

Nude study. Oil on canvas. "the picture is traditionally attributed to géricault. Yet in spite of the high quality of the work, the question of authorship remains open. The model shown in the picture is from the studio of pierre-narcisse guérin and frequently posed for prudhon, delacroix and géricault himself. The sharp chiaroscuro contrasts, which emphasise the powerful muscles of the male torso, the moulding of the parts, the complex foreshortening and the expressive face have enabled the artist to create a striking, characteristic image of the man of the new age. ". Object Type: painting. Date: between 1810 and 1811.
