The work, inspired by a passage from the golden legend of santiago de la vorágine, represents saint francis of assisi and saint dominic de guzmán, contemplating the appearance of god the savior, angry and ready to punish sinners, and that of the virgin imploring forgiveness for them, promising that both will preach the faith of christ for all nations.
