In 1903 sousa viterbo published a receipt signed by gregório lopes and dated september 1536 which proves that the royal painter had been commissioned to paint several altarpieces for the small altars of the charola of the convent of christ in tomar and for the chapel of our lady, also in tomar, works for which he charged the sum of 68,000 réis. This document concerns the altarpieces whose panels "saint anthony preaching to the fish" and "saint bernard" remain on the charola, and the "martyrdom of saint sebastian" and "virgin, child and angels", currently in the national museum of ancient art, in lisbon.
