Rare lithograph from the official account by abel du petit-thouars, voyage autour du monde sur la venus 1836-1839. The venus had arrived at callao on 13/5/37 and one month stay during which dortet de tessan was sent to chart the shoal hormigas off the north point of san lorenzo island, while dupetit-thouars went to lima on official visits. From calao the venu sailed west on 14/6/37 to check on the existence of the island of st paul, shown on some old charts which dupetit-thouars decided did not exist.
