The icebreaker mjølner was built by the helsingør shipyard (yard no. 26) in 1890 for the danish state railways (dsb). She served in the great belt until 1938 and was then based at helsingør. In 1944 she left danish waters and was interned in sweden. In may 1945 she returned to denmark, carrying part of the danish brigade from sweden.
