Illustration by poul steffensen from the danish novel gjøngehøvdingen by carit etlar which takes place during the dano-swedish war in 1657-1658. Ane marie and her husband svend poulsen, gøngehøvdingen in their hut. Ane marie is about to go to jungshoved castle to ask for the doctor for svend poulsen. He asks her also to ask about whether kai lykke is there but she don't really want to as she know that kai lykke has taken julie parsberg whom svend poulsen was in love with. Svend poulsen takes her hands and says that the love is over but she don't really trust him. Svend poulsen (app. 1610 - app. 1679) was a real person but the story is fiction. The look of svend poulsen is also fantasy as there are no known portraits of him. Date: Original illustration from the 1890s, here reprint from 1909..
