A brussels historical tapestry mid-17th century, after peter paul rubens, depicting the labarum from the history of constantine the great series, with constantine before two soldiers raising the labarum with the monogram of christ, between solomonic columns, slightly reduced to top and bottom, areas of re-weaving particularly between the figures at leg height 13ft. 2in. (401cm. ) x 9ft. 6¼in. (290cm. ) provenance anonymous sale at christie's, new york, 25 september 2001, lot 372 ($30,550). Anonymous sale at christie's, new york, 4 february 2004, lot 299 ($16,730). Date: circa 1650.
