Carl ritter's 1847 impression of johann stabius's 1515 world map, whose engraving is credited to albrecht dürer. A planisphere globe surrounded by the twelve winds, equivalent to ptolemy's third projection. The arms of matthäus cardinal lang von wellenburg, archbishop of salzburg, at upper left; the arms of johann stabius, imperial astrologer, at lower left. Dedication to cardinal lang at upper right; imperial privilege and date at lower right. 63. 9 x 85. 0 cm. Presented to the british museum by the [austrian] imperial library in vienna in november, 1848. Date: 1847.
