Plate with Grapes and Floral Sprays, 1426

This large platter with grape and floral decoration, which is different from the small stem cups decorated with dragons nearby, was made primarily for export to southeastern and western asia. However, a similar example bearing the xuande reign mark has also been excavated from the ming imperial kilns at jingdezhen. Date: 1426. Place of creation: China, Jiangxi province, Jingdezhen, Ming dynasty (1368-1644), Xuande reign (1426-35). Dimensions: Diameter: 43.2 cm (17 in.); Overall: 7.7 cm (3 1/16 in.). Medium: porcelain with underglaze blue. Collection: Cleveland Museum of Art.
