Lucas cranach the elder, altar triptych in the burial chapel of george the bearded, meissen cathedral. In the middle picture, christ after the descent from the cross, depicted as alive, with mary and john; above, putti with the instruments of the passion; on the left, duke george with the apostles james and peter, on the right, his wife barbara with the apostles paul and andrew. Peter points from the left to the bible verse written at the top right (1 peter:13-15), paul from the right to the bible verses at the top left (eph 5:22. 28. 33; 1 tim. 2:9). Date: 1534.
