Studio of sir godfrey kneller, bt. 1646 - 1723 portrait of william wharton (d. 1687) three-quarter length, wearing a dark doublet and red cloak, lace jabot and long flowing wig oil on canvas, in a fine george ii frame in the manner of william kent 105 by 89cm.;41½ by 35in. Provenance probably commissioned by philip, 4th baron wharton, the sitter's father; thence by descent to jane, baroness wharton, his daughter, wife of robert coke, who left her estate to anna maria draycott, wife of george, 2nd earl of pomfret.
