Clergyman with top hat by T & J Holroyd B (4), between 1863 and 1872

Extract from a photograph of a clergyman holding a top hat, gloves and cane, by t & j holroyd of harrogate. The photographers were brothers thomas holroyd (1821–1904) and james holroyd (c. 1825–1874). Thomas was a portrait and landscape painter, and james was a photographer, both from harrogate, north yorkshire, england. Although they were both credited, it was james who took most of the photographs. Note: the carved chest is likely to be the italian sarcophagus-type chest left to harrogate corporation by thomas holroyd in 1904. The whereabouts of the chest today is unknown. Date: between 1863 and 1872.
