The first page of the first hungarian-language front page, charivari dongó, issue 22 (1848/49 revolution and freedom struggle; humor; caricature; hungarian history; politics) the history of the hungarian press dates back to the pest charivari, published as an independent paper, with the birth of the first regularly published hungarian front page, the pest joke. Its editor was lauka gusztáv, a humorist from pest who belonged to petőfi's circle of friends. In june 1848, he teamed up with the military officer and inventor miklós szerelmey to launch the first magazine, of which only 25 issues were published, after which the creators joined the army.
