Death certificate: colonel josef churavý (* 1894 - † 1942), (brigadier general in memoriam). Member of the czechoslovak legions in russia. During the protectorate, he was one of the most important figures ii. Resistance, where he acted as a leading representative of the illegal military organization "defense of the nation". Collaborator of the intelligence - sabotage group "three kings" (balabán, mašín, morávek). He was sentenced to death twice for activities hostile to the empire: the first time for the concealment and concealment of geographical and cartographic material before and at the beginning of the protectorate's existence, when he served as deputy commander of the military geographical institute (vzú) in prague. The second time for active participation in illegal resistance structures during the years 1940 to 1941. On june 30, 1942, josef churavý was sentenced (for the second time) by a court-martial to the death penalty, and on the same day at 7:30 p. M. In the evening, together with lieutenant colonel josef mašín and his associates (some other members of the national defense), he was executed at the kobylis shooting range. His body was transported to strašnice with the other executed and burned in the strašnice crematorium. The family was notified of the execution several weeks late with this official death certificate dated september 15, 1942. Date: 15 September 1942.
