Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1944-07-08) letter no. 267 (1944-07-29) next letter (1944-08-08) envelope: front back text [my mom, uncalled, touch wood, we don’t know what luck i had this time that this “muster” fell during my vacation, for if i had been here i would have been sent away despite my situation! now the storm has died down. For the time being i’m working here in the office and have a quiet job there. Today and tomorrow i’ve been put on guard duty, as is usual for those returning on vacation, but that doesn’t matter, my thoughts are still at home with you and my dear vienna. My god, how nice it was at home, we’re only really seeing that now. But we don’t want to complain and are glad that i can stay here. Today i asked you when you have to go back to work. I think about you a lot and what you are doing! Date: 29 July 1944.
