Christoffer rosenkrantz was a fraudulous nobleman. One of his forgeries was a loan document to a widow, where he changed the amount from 1,000 to 5,000. The widow took the case to the courts, and on june 30, 1609 the danish king christian iv interrogated rosenkrantz at the royal skanderborg castle. The painting shows christian iv at the window to the left, examining the loan document. The smartly dressed rosenkrantz is to the right (lund obviously had no idea what he looked like). In the end rosenkrantz confessed, his dwellings were searched, and more forgeries - including a royal seal - were found. Christoffer rosenkrantz was executed in march 1610. Object Type: painting. Date: circa 1857. Dimensions: 25 × 28 cm (9.8 × 11 in). Medium: oil on canvas laid on panel. Frederik Christian Lund - Christoffer Rosenkrantz forhøres af Christian IV
