Ulmer Dogge, 1705

Merck was court painter in berlin from 1695 to 1717 and in potsdam from 1718. Here merck portrayed a great dane from ulm, which belonged to king frederick i's pack of dogs. The great dane bears the monogram fr and a royal crown on its collar. The painting has been in the grunewald hunting lodge since 1860. Object Type: painting. Genre: animal art. Date: 1705.
