My beloved mother! today is saturday and i want to send you my heartfelt greetings again. How the weeks fly by. There is little sign of sunday here but word is getting around. It is now 2 p. M. And we cannot be fed during the day because of enemy intelligence, so we will not be served until 6 p. M. This is the time everyone is waiting for because that is when the longed-for mail will arrive. We now have plenty to eat and it is good too. I made fried potatoes again today and they tasted great. Tomorrow i may have chicken again. Date: 17 October 1943.
