portrait of louis jacques mandé daguerre (1787-1851), inventor of the daguerreotype. Three-quarter portrait, one hand slipped into his vest, the other resting on his leg. The legion of honor on the lapel of his jacket. Historical commentary:
long considered lost, this daguerreotype was found in the attic of the hôtel carnavalet in 1983. The same year, it was reassembled by the restoration workshop. Acquisition method: manual donation
