Illustration by poul steffensen from the danish novel gjøngehøvdingen by carit etlar which takes place during the dano-swedish war in 1657-1658. Captain manheimer, a german mercenary hired by the swedish army, goes back to gåsetårnet in vordingborg. Gåsetårnet (the goose tower) was build around 1160 as a part of vordingborg castle and is the only part of it which remains intact. Today the tower is the landmark of the city.
